UGA FAMILY HISTORY SUMMER CONFERENCE

THEME: OUR FAMILY: OUR HERITAGE

Held at the Larry H. Miller Campus of Salt Lake Community College at 9750 South 300 West, Sandy, Utah
The UGA conference will combine excellent presenters and classes with technology training and hands on classes in the computer labs.  We will offer beginning to advanced levels, including classes in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel.   We have invited well known presenters from many areas including: International Research, Technology, US. Research, Writing Personal and Family Histories, Printing, Community Networking, New Family Search and Family Search. ICAPGen will be presenting an entire track on becoming a professional genealogist. We will offer a total of 144 classes over the two days.  We will also include computer classes giving participants the opportunity to try personal databases, research sites and web page creation.  Jim Greene will be representing Family Search and will offer computer classes to teach Indexing, Family Search: Search Engine, Wikis and Forums.  Many of our vendors  will also be teaching hands on classes in the labs.

We begin Friday with a keynote address from Ron Tanner, Project Manager from Family Search his speech will begin at 8:00 AM followed by 5 class sessions.
Session 1: 9:30-10:30 a.m. Session 2: 10:45-11:45 a.m.  Lunch 11:45-1:00 p.m.
Session 3: 1:15-2:15 p.m.  Session 4: 2:30-3:30 p.m. and Session 5: 3:45-4:45 p.m.  

On Saturday, Dan Lawyer of Family Link will be our keynote address and 4 class sessions will follow ending at 3:30 p.m.  We will hold a vendor drawing at 4:00. The vendor drawing is always a favorite event and Ancestry.com is donating 6 memberships for its great website.  We are anticipating over 40 vendors who will donate great prizes to be given away at the vendor drawing.

The cost for the conference will be $10.00 per day which includes the syllabus on CD and all computer classes.  UGA members will receive a discount of $5.00 making both days only $15.00. Super saver options are also available. You can receive a 1 year UGA membership and conference registration for $45.00 or if you are already a UGA member, you can receive a one year extension on you membership and conference registration for $40.00. Discounts for volunteers at the conference are also available. There is ample parking which will also be free to participants.  Lunches will be provided at a nominal fee, but will not be required if participants would like to bring their own or eat out.

Friday evening our annual UGA banquet will be held at the college. Noted author and speaker Liza Alzo will be speaking.  The banquet will be $15.00 for UGA members and $17.00 for non-UGA members. All are invited to attend. The menu and details are available on the website.
